Legacy Portraits

Kristin O'Donnell

photography

in honor of Reverend Dr. Ronald K. Walthall

These portrait sessions are near and dear to my heart as they are being held in memory of my Grandfather whom I called Daddaddy. He passed away in November just four days shy of our shared birthday, leaving behind his devoted wife of 67 years, 4 daughters, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Family truly meant the world to him and we both shared a passion of documenting our loved ones with our photography.

I had the honor of helping my family take care of my Daddaddy the last week of his life. One of the many things that I remember during this time was the hospice worker looking in awe at the wall art behind his bed; family portraits that I had taken years prior. She stood there with tears in her eyes and said, "what a beautiful legacy he has created and what a beautiful gift you have given them."

I realized at that moment, I never took professional portraits of my own children with my grandparents, let alone my own parents. Now that I am, I want you to have that too.

If you are a past client of mine then you already know that I believe in helping you create something not only tangible for your home, but also deeply moving for your family to cherish as the years pass. Because I believe in printing your heirloom art pieces and preserving them, I typically only include digital files with your album, folio box or wall art purchase.

With that being said, I'm excited to offer some portrait specials this year that will give you the opportunity to have meaningful portraits at a lower entry point without sacrificing quality.

I'll guide you throughout the session, so you're never unsure how to pose or what to do with your hands. I want you to relax and enjoy some time in front of the camera with your favorite people. If your kids are fussy, don't worry, I have some tricks up my sleeves!

Shortly after your portrait session, we'll meet back at the studio or online for a zoom call where you'll view your gallery. Don't worry-if you cry, you definitely won't be the first! Then, you'll choose which images you love most, and most especially, which photos you'd like to turn into family heirlooms.

I spend hours meticulously editing the portraits you have chosen. Once they are complete, you'll receive your gallery to enjoy as you wait for the artwork!

Once your keepsakes arrive, I carefully inspect every last inch to ensure they're perfect. Then, I hand-deliver your heirlooms to your door or schedule a pick up!

I'm a big believer that images aren’t meant to solely exist in a digital space. One day, most likely, Instagram will be gone, your phone will be replaced and images that you can physically hold in your hand will be the best way to remember those precious moments we captured.

Think about this fact: fifteen years ago, if I had delivered you digital images, they would have been on a floppy disk. With the fast updates to technology, you would have no way to access those images today. Even the online galleries we deliver will eventually become outdated. But prints? Those last!

Yes, you are welcome to print the images on your own. If you do this, I recommend making sure that the printer does not color correct the images (many automatically do this.) I also recommend looking for a high quality printer. While 10 cent prints sound great in theory, the cheaper printing quality often won’t do your images justice. Paper quality, color correction and a handful of other factors play a big role in the way your prints turn out. This is one of the reasons why I LOVE offering prints to my clients.

Questions

No. However, any portrait purchased in the form of a physical product receives the matching digital file. For example: an album with 12 portraits includes those 12 digital files complimentary.

A:

Can i purchase additional digital files instead of products?

q:

The majority of my clients will purchase an album or a folio box which allows for the display of multiple images from your session. They pair this with wall art of their favorite portrait.

A:

what do most people purchase?

q:

Unfortunately it will cut into your allotted time slot since there will be another family shortly after yours. Please give yourself enough time to arrive at least 10 minutes early.

These portraits sessions can be with anyone, whether that's you and your spouse, you and your kids, your grandparents by themselves or your family.

30 minute session is for up to 6 people
45 minute session is for more more then 6

The amount of people will determine the variety of portraits.
